Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed Pakistan’s willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue with India to address longstanding issues, including the Kashmir dispute and water-related concerns.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Tehran with Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and emphasized that any aggression would be met with a strong response.
"Iran is Pakistan’s Second Home," Says PM Shehbaz
During his official visit to Tehran, PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed his happiness over the warm welcome, calling Iran "Pakistan’s second home." He described his discussions with President Pezeshkian as constructive, particularly in areas of trade, investment, and mutual cooperation.
Both leaders agreed to further deepen bilateral relations, highlighting the shared historical, religious, and cultural ties between the two nations.
Focus on Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Peace
PM Shehbaz thanked the Iranian President for his supportive remarks towards the Pakistani people. He acknowledged Iran’s concerns over regional tensions and reaffirmed that Pakistan seeks a peaceful resolution to all conflicts through dialogue—especially the Kashmir issue.
The Prime Minister praised the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces in defending the nation and reiterated that peace does not mean weakness, and any hostile action would be responded to firmly.
PM Shehbaz Raises Alarm Over Gaza Humanitarian Crisis
The Prime Minister also addressed the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, expressing grave concern over the reported killing of over 50,000 people. He urged the international community to take decisive action and ensure an immediate and lasting ceasefire in the region.
Iranian President Pezeshkian Calls for Regional Stability and Supports Palestinian Cause
President Masoud Pezeshkian warmly welcomed PM Shehbaz and reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan. He highlighted shared positions on platforms such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and called for enhanced cooperation in trade, economy, and counterterrorism—particularly along the border areas.
The Iranian President also praised the ceasefire efforts between Pakistan and India and emphasized that regional development is impossible without peace. He voiced strong support for Palestine and condemned the global silence over what he termed a genocide in Gaza.
Formal Reception at Iran’s Sa’adabad Palace
On Monday, PM Shehbaz Sharif was given a formal guard of honour at the Sa’adabad Palace in Tehran. He was warmly received by President Pezeshkian. The national anthems of Pakistan and Iran were played, and the Prime Minister reviewed the honour guard alongside the Iranian President.
After the ceremonial welcome, both leaders introduced their respective delegations before proceeding to their official meeting.
High-Level Delegation Accompanies PM Shehbaz on Iran Visit
PM Shehbaz Sharif is on a two-day official visit to Iran following his trip to Türkiye. Upon arrival at Mehrabad Airport, he was received by senior Iranian officials including Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, and Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghaddam.
